Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing
EMDR
EMDR is a evidence based therapy which reduces symptoms related to Depression,
Trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, and other emotional difficulties.

HOW DOES EMDR WORK?

EMDR has a direct effect on the way the brain processes information,
releasing emotional experience that are trapped in the nervous system.
A TRAINED THERAPIST works with the individual to recall a disturbing
thought, feeling or memory.

BILATERAL STIMULATION is used while a person recalls an image, feeling or
thought. Something you can see, hear or touch creates bilateral stimulation
when it moves side to side in a pattern thus moving your eyes back and forth.
The disturbing MEMORIES ARE REPROCESSED by the brain resulting in painful feelings
being exchanged for more RESOLVED, peaceful feelings.
